Praia do Gastão

Gastão era um simples pescador. 

Num dia de lua cheia, Gastão decidiu se aventurar por zonas desconhecidas. 

Sem esperar, encontra uma praia paradisíaca. Nela encontra uma sereia, Melina! 

Entre os dois nasceu um amor, e frequentemente Gastão visitava a tal praia, onde os dois se encontravam.

Certo dia o pai de Melina, o impiedoso Neptuno, visitou o ilhéu de cima e ao longe observou o encontro entre os dois. Cheio de raiva, foi até à praia e proibiu Gastão de voltar aquele sítio, ameaçando-o de que seria implacável! 

Largos dias se passaram sem que Gastão voltasse à sua praia secreta. No entanto, os seus sentimentos falaram mais alto e resolveu arriscar. Melina bem tentou demover o seu pai mas ao ver Gastão, Neptuno ergueu o seu tridente e pronunciando com vigor palavras mágicas transformou Gastão em pedra. 

Ainda hoje poderás reconhecer a imagem da face de Gastão na grande rocha que domina a parte central desta praia. Nas noites de lua cheia, Melina regressa à praia para visitar o seu amor.

Gastão was a simple fisherman.

On a full moon day, Gaston decided to venture into unknown areas.

He was surpreised to find a paradisiacal beach. In that beach he met a mermaid, Melina!

Between the two love was born, and Gastão often visited that beach, where the two met.

One day Melina's father, the merciless Neptune, visited the islet nearby and in the distance watched the meeting between the two. Filled with rage, he went to the beach and warned Gastão not to come back to that beach ever again, threatening him that he would be ruthless!

Long days went by and Gastão did not return to his secret beach. However, his feelings spoke louder and he decided to risk it. Melina tried to dissuade her father but when he saw Gastão, Neptune raised his trident and strongly pronouncing magical words, he turned Gastão to stone.

Even today you can recognize the image of the face of Gastão in the large rock that dominates the central part of this beach. On full moon nights, Melina returns to the beach to visit his love.

Princesa Leuchtturm

Era uma vez uma linda princesa chamada Leuchtturm.
O pai de Leuchtturm, o Rei, queria ter a certeza que a sua filha realmente se casaria com um homem inteligente. Para testar a inteligência e a coragem dos pretendentes da sua filha, o rei mandou colocar três caixas num ponto distante do seu reino (uma de ouro, uma de prata e uma de bronze), e escondeu uma foto da princesa Leuchtturm dentro de uma delas.

O pretendente tinha que ser capaz de descobrir em qual caixa estaria a foto de Leuchtturm numa única tentativa, não demorando mais de vinte segundos.

Na caixa de ouro tinha uma mensagem:
"A foto de Leuchtturm está aqui"

Na caixa de prata estava escrito:
"A foto de Leuchtturm não está nesta caixa"

E na caixa de bronze continha a mensagem:
"A foto de Leuchtturm não está na caixa de ouro".

O Rei avisou que somente uma das três mensagens era verdadeira.

There once was a beautiful princess named Leuchtturm.
Leuchtturm's father, the King, wanted to make sure that his daughter would marry a really intelligent man. To test the intelligence and courage of the suitors of his daughter, the king had put three boxes at a distant point in his kingdom (one of gold, one of silver and one of bronze), and hid a photo of Princess Leuchtturm within one.


The wooer had to be able to figure out in which box the picture of Leuchtturm would be in a single attempt, not taking longer than twenty seconds.

In the gold box there was this message:
"Leuchtturm's photo is here."

In silver box was written:
"Leuchtturm's photo is not in this box."

And the bronze box contained the message:
"Leuchtturm's photo is not in the gold box."

The King warned that only one of the three messages was true.

O percurso desta cache situa-se entre os 1759 e os 1400 metros de altitude.

A cache deverá ser realizada com boas condições metereológicas para que possas usufruir das abrangentes paisagens desde os mais altos picos da ilha até a cidade do Funchal. 

This cache's route is located between 1759 and 1400 meters altitude.

The cache should be done with good weather conditions so you can enjoy the broad landscapes from the highest peaks of the island to the city of Funchal.

O percuso percorre a linha divisória entre os concelhos do Funchal e de Câmara de Lobos. 

Irás caminhar ao longo das montanhas olhando para o Curral das Freiras, bem lá em baixo, a quase 1000m de desnível. 

The route runs along the dividing line between the counties of Funchal and Câmara de Lobos.

You will walk along the mountains safely looking at the Nun's Valley, down low, with almost a 1000m gap.

O percurso poderá ser feito de diversas formas. Poderás efectuar um percurso circular, mais longo e cansativo com algumas subidas. A outra hipótese será efectuar o percurso quase sempre a descer, começando no Pico do Arieiro e terminando no Curral das Freiras. Neste caso terás de utilizar 2 carros ou outros meios de transporte.

The route may be done in several ways. You can make a round trip, longer and with some exhausting climbs. The other hypothesis is a descending trail, starting at Pico Arieiro and ending at the Nun's Valley. In this case you will have to use two cars or other means of transport.

- Percurso Descendente: Pico Arieiro - Cache - Curral das Freiras: 7km / 3h

- Deverás levar água e comida, roupa e calçado apropriados.
